Stanley Chase was born Stanley Cohen on May 3, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from New Utrecht High School in 1944, and enlisted in the Navy at age 17. He received his B.A. from New York University in 1949, and immediately pursued graduate study in drama at Columbia University. Theatrical producer and director, born in 1925. Attended Yale Drama School and moved to New York after World War II. Best known for directing the off-Broadway revival of The threepenny opera (1954-1961), he had several successes on Broadway, notably O'Neill's Moon for the misbegotten in 1957.
